Types of Torch-On Membrane
Two common types of torch-on membranes are the Atactic Polypropylene Plastic modified asphalt (APP) and Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS).

Liquid-applied membrane is commonly used for waterproofing and damp-proofing of concrete surfaces, such as floor slabs, retaining walls, balconies, tunnels, bathrooms and carparks. Its highly versatile nature enables it to be used for virtually any type of structure and surface.
It consists of a single component and has good elongation properties, thereby making it effective at bridging cracks. It is also highly adhesive to various types of substrate and can adhere remarkably well to both horizontal and vertical surfaces. When applied near natural elements, it can resist soil conditions and contaminated groundwater. The application can be by the cold applied method, directly by brush and cured on moisture.
There are two types of self-adhesive membranes, namely the bitumen/asphalt compound and protective films. Bitumen/asphalt compounds are usually modified with specially formulated resins to provide ease of installation. The membrane can thus be manually adjusted on-site to ensure precise installation. Protective films can be hot-laminated to the bituminous/asphalt compound and give the membrane enhanced physical characteristics such as heat resistance.

Traffic Bearing Membrane
